Former Inspector Larry Proud could be described as having a "colourful" background. However, that would be unfair as his career is so much more than that.
Larry was one of 32 Victoria Police members charged in the infamous Beach Inquiry. He was completely acquitted and went on to create the first Child Exploitation Unit; Delta Taskforce. He was an instructor at the Police Academy before working in PNG, Samoa and Cambodia.
Larry returned to Australia in 1998. he held senior executive roles in domestic and international public safety and justice sector reform before retiring earlier this year.

Former Chief Superintendent Bill Jackson (registered number 12372) talks to his daughter on The Crime Couch. The Victoria Police top cop reflects on his 40 years in the job.
Bill was awarded a prestigious APM and worked in the Mobile Traffic Section, the Second-Hand Dealers, Drug Squad and Personnel before retiring as the Chief Super of "E" district.

This week on The Crime Couch we return to part two of Sergeant Peter "Booter" Anderson's incredible story .
Booter crawled 70 metres under Ballarat's Black Hill Reserve hunting a serial sex offender who'd kidnapped a 16-year-old girl. He was officially recognised for his bravery and determination that day in November 1998.
Booter has spent most of his time in Uniform in Victoria's western districts of Ararat, Ballarat and Buninyong.

Imagine you're crawling in a 100-year-old mining tunnel with a dodgy torch and silent blackness all around.
This is what Sergeant Peter "Booter" Anderson faced. He crawled 70 metres under Ballarat's Black Hill Reserve hunting a serial sex offender who'd kidnapped a 16-year-old girl.

Bryan Harding is a former Victoria Police Chief Superintendent with a remarkable career. Bryan was a reformist and years ahead of his time. He opposed capital punishment, tried to keep young offenders out of prison and looked for social rather than legal solutions to resolve conflict.
At 91 years of age. Bryan's about to publish his autobiography; "Always in need of reform - reflections of a policeman". He talks on The Crime Couch about his rapport with notorious crook Ronald Ryan, the Faraday School kidnapping and heading up the Police Association.

He talks about the jobs he worked on including the bombings of the Russell Street Police headquarters and the Turkish Consulate. Bernie's dealt with the most infamous crooks, safe breakers and armed robbers. He also recalls when he was confronted by a crim with a gun in St Kilda.

Leading Firefighter Geoff Brereton talks about the event that changed his life in the second of a two part interview on The Crime Couch. The Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) officer was the first on the scene of the Eastern Freeway accident in April 22, 2020. He gave CPR to two dying Victoria Police members and medical assistance to a third while waiting for an ambulance.
Geoff has been awarded the Fire Rescue Victoria's Commissioner's Commendation for his bravery and courage that night.

Geoff Brereton is an accidental hero. The Fire Rescue Victoria's Leading Firefighter was the first on the scene of the Eastern Freeway tragedy which took the lives of four Victoria Police officers on April 22, 2020.
He immediately called for assistance and gave medical help including CPR to the injured police officers while waiting for the ambulance. His bravery and courageous actions have been officially recognised. Geoff's been given the first ever Fire Rescue Victoria's Commissioner's Commendation.
In an exclusive two part interview, Geoff talks about that night.
